I have a few question about mplex related to audio offsets.

1) It appears that I have to invert the sign of the offset with mplex.
For example, if I have a mpeg with an audio offset of 118ms, I have to use
-118ms in mplex. For other applications like avisynth and virtualdub, I
specify 118ms. Why is mplex backwards?

2) After muxing a video with mplex, I decided to check the offset with
dvd2avi and pvastrumento. I get very different offsets. If I specify
-118ms for a file, dvd2avi tells me the offset is 17ms. Using bbinfo, I
got the following for the first video and audio packs:

video PTS: 244ms
video DTS: 144ms
audio PTS: 262ms

The same video, muxed with bbmpeg gives the following:

video PTS: 280ms
video DTS: 180ms
audio PTS: 398ms

and dvd2avi and pvastrumento report the correct audio offset of 118ms.

There are some more examples in this thread on doom9.org

Does anybody know why mplex is behaving this way? Is this something to be
concerned about?
