Does it work if you tell lavrec not to change (-l -1) the mixer
registers ?
Which soundcard, soundsystem (ALSO/OSS) do you use ?

Telling lavrec not to chanhe the register, could prevent that. But you
have to make soure before you record, that you have set up the correct
mixer value.
