Presumably you scaled before encoding :) Something like this? smil2yuv file.avi | yuvdenoise ... | y4mscaler -O preset=VCD -S option=sinc8lan | mpeg2enc -f 1 -4 2 -2 1 -o foo.m1v and of course mplex with "-f 1" as well. > I've used mjpegtools to generate an MPEG-1 video. If they also have problems the player may have developed a problem. One of my brothers had a JVC player that claimed to play VCDs. It choked/died (almost like yours does from the sound of it) on discs my older portable no-name DVD player accepted just fine. Since his player also didn't accept any of the recordable DVD media I talked him into getting a Philips (which was on special sale when he finally agreed his player was not that good) and all the problems went away. > The only thing that's different about these videos is that they were > captured off of an analog->DV device from really bad tapes. That shouldn't make a difference. If dvgrab was able to get the data then other than the expected suboptimal picture any VCD/DVD made from it should work fine. > If you want, I've posted all my stuff for this project at Thanks for the offer but I'll pass on pulling in VCD images ;) > The problem video is grad2001.mpg, and it crashes my player within 8 > seconds. It was generated from the .avi files in RAW4. You can grab the Hmmm, do you have access (friends/neighbors, local store with other players) to another player to try? That would be a good test - if that works then your player is having the problem. If it doesn't work then there's something awry with vcdimager (doubtful at this stage that the mpeg2enc program has a bug that big left in it - possible but I'd say quite unlikely). Perhaps trying vcdimager 0.7.14 (or the CVS version) might be worth a try. I'll try making a VCD (been a while - been making DVDs instead for quite a while) and see if anything outside the ordinary happens. ------------------------------------------------------- This sf.net email is sponsored by:ThinkGeek Welcome to geek heaven. http://thinkgeek.com/sf _______________________________________________ Mjpeg-users mailing list [EMAIL PROTECTED] https://lists.sourceforge.net/lists/listinfo/mjpeg-users
