So that looks like a driver problem after all. I'd suggest to try to
compile the latest driver from http://bytesex.org/bttv/ and try that one
instead of the in-kernel driver. First try the 0.7.x version. If that
doesn't work, try the 0.9.x one too, though you need the v4l2 patch for
that (http://bytesex.org/patches/).
