I do have a PC connected to the TV too. It is a Mitsubishi 65" rear
projection, connected using an Svideo port. Unfortunately the picture does
not look good at all. Any hints about which VGA board (or whatever) to get
to make things look crisp would be appreciated.

Get a cheap PC instead, like that you no longer have to worry about DVD
regions or the whole PAL/NTSC thing. MPlayer plays any DVD from any
region, no matter what region your dvd-rom drive is set to.
