Which value did you use for the -d, 1/2/4 ?

You see the image size the video should have when you run: lavinfo
filename.avi

Maybe a driver problem. I can test it in 4 days. I'm not at home near my
BUZ.

HW playback usually works if you run it as root. And you should start
and close xawtv before trying to do HW-playback. Usually you only have
to start XAWTV once and than the HW-Playback should work.

Maybe it helps if you unload the driver modules and load them again.
