Ah, ok, that changes things completely. > I For Zoran (rec) + Zoran for (play) Impossible. the zoran codec can only be used by one process at a time. :-(. You can't have all traffic lights going to green at a street crossing. > II For DV (rec) + Zoran playback > - realtime dv to lav converter with same IPC mechanism above Interesting... Erik (libdv maintainer) has once said that he wanted a libdv interpreter that could work at full-PAL/NTSC on a P-II 400 or so. Take that together with that current jpeg-mmx needs a ~700-800 MHz for full-PAL encoding, and you've got a 1200 (take or give -> 1500 MHz) and you can do this. libdv should even be a bit more optimizeable, and jpegmmx is definately improveable. (GStreamer:) gst-launch 1394src ! dvdec ! colorspace ! jpegmmxenc ! v4lmjpegsink I wonder whether that'd work... Cool idea, I might buy a firewire(tm)(c)(r)(bla) card just in order to try it out some day. :-).
