I think it does not make difference but lowering -q indeed helps.

With "-i T -d 1 -q 50" average CPU usage for two highest processes around 4.0% for one and 2.5% for other, not sure, looks low probably its using hardware. Do you have to have MJPEG codec on windows machine to play produced .AVI files or in most cases any windows system would play lavrec produced .AVI file could be played?
