Indeed, I was thinking from a Linux perspective where we 1) don't have m4a decoding by default (ignoring Windows lacking AAC+Media Foundation) and 2) normally already have a faad dsl lying around somewhere in /usr/lib (or easily gotten by a user via package manager).
