I just installed the latest snapshot on the machine and did a test
reboot and the problem remains -- brief powerdown before rebooting.
After I had completed the update and rebooted while running the kernel
on the install46 cd, the powerdown did not occur. This is exactly the
behavior I've seen since 4.5 release.

I'm guessing that there's something about my configuration that's
causing this, since I believe the installed kernel and the kernel on
the CD are essentially the same (though I do understand that booting
from the CD runs bsd.rd whereas booting from the system's disk runs
bsd.mp, but since I'm already guessing, I'll go further out on the
limb and guess that is not the issue, as I would think that the code
that talks to the hardware to initiate the reboot would be the same).
I'm going to try to find the shutdown/reboot code in the kernel and
have a look (I've done a lot of OS development in my long career, so
this is not quite as crazy as it might otherwise sound) to try to get
a clue as to what in my configuration might be causing this.

In the meanwhile, I'd appreciate any other suggestions.
