oh, sorry I wasn't clear enough. Right now, multiple *independent* audio apps can be used, you're right. They will work independently without disturbing each other, as if each program was using a different audio device. That's of limited usefulness when recording music. Often, we want to use multiple complementary audio apps on the *same* project. For instance you may want to start simultaneously an audio recorder (to record voice) and a MIDI player (accompaniment) keeping them in sync. OpenBSD doesn't provide a way to do so, yet. The only option for now is to have both the audio recorder and the MIDI player inside a single monolythic program. But there's no such program working reliably on OpenBSD; we have plenty of small programs covering almost all needs, but they cannot cooperate, unfortunately. -- Alexandre
