Unfortunately, whether it works depends on what hardware devices you have, as some devices don't support DMA to/from high memory addresses and the kernel doesn't know how to make sure that it never points such devices at such memory. There's been some discussion in this area but I don't think anything has been finalized yet. Philip Guenther
