I have 4.2-GENERIC that runs happy under openSUSE 11.0/VMware Server 2.0. This is internal corporate mail server for ~70 users with postfix/mysql/courier-imap/roundcube and average loads are near to zero. Historically it ran on dedicated server but I virtualized it when I needed hardware for other project. That was fairly simple: I installed new OpenBSD 4.2 VM, rsync'ed whole filesystem from hardware server to VM (except /dev), changed fxp0 to pcn0 in configs and turned hardware server off. Users did'nt noticed anything at all. I did'nt succeed installing vmware-tools from freebsd.iso ("Abort trap...") so I'm using Suspend/Resume instead of Shutdown/PowerOn for this VM. So, Pro's: 1) I've got spare hardware server; 2) If VMware host goes down, I can run VM on the second (or third) VMware host; 3) Now it is not necessary to move my ass to server room if I want to boot into single mode :) Con's: I don't see any in this case. Performance is OK, stability is OK. Good luck. -- Yuri Spirin
