Recent versions of xterm (237, 242) have some new options you might find helpful. control-center-button brings up "VT options", then just past "Allow 80/132 Column Switching", there are 2 new options: "Keep Selection", and "Select to Clipboard". I think the 2nd of these might cause xterm to behave as you wish. -Marcus Watts
