That's a plausible figure.

For comparison, here's "dump 0af /dev/null /usr" on a fast and a
slow machine:

amd64 (Phenom), WDC WD1500ADFD-0: 15413 KB/s
alpha (PC164),  IBM DNES-309170W:  1363 KB/s

If you feel that dump is too slow, you could take a look at the
caching option Matt Dillon added to FreeBSD's dump and port that
over.
