Hello,

I posted a question on ports@ concerning rtorrent on i386. My problem
with this package is that it crashes after sometime taking down (!) the
complete system.

In a response [1] the following was suggested:

"rtorrent mmap()s files and apparently puts a lot of pressure on the
kernel UVM subsystem, exposing bugs there..."

Looking at a response [2] on a message posted on Libtorrent-devel, I
believe it is not an OpenBSD-only situation:

"/me marks another notch on the list of kernels and compilers
r/libtorrent has killed..."

As it seems rtorrent works fine on sparc64.

My question: Is it possible that there is a problem with mmap() on i386?

Kind regards,

Bjvrn Ketelaars
