Not a big deal, just wondering if this is by design and on purpose
Sometimes, people WISH to make a private reply, and may say things
they don't wish to go to the list.
* IF you intend to make a public reply and it goes to the original
sender by accident, absolutely no harm done.
* IF you intend to make a private reply and it goes to the list by
accident, considerable embarrassment might be the result.
Yes, for example the word embarrass has 'bare ass' in it if you study
closely.
SO, the current config is the "safe by default" way to do things.
Worst case, you re-send a message, and one person gets two responses.
I can't find the 'reply only to group' feature my mail client yet.. but
I just started using this email client recently. It is Mozilla Thunderbird.
Personally, I just always hit "reply", and then change the destination
address. Before you say "That's too much work!", take a look at how
many messages you post, and how many I post, and figure out if you
think I have ANY sympathy at all for that comment. :)
This is what I used to do on my mailing lists that I manage.. and even
then, people on the list complained every day that I should change the
settings of the list. But if people on this list are okay with it, then
I'm okay with it.
By the way.. I had openbsd and a few servers running the first night
even though I'd never used openbsd before. Yay! Had some dependency
troubles installing midnight commander but on a lightweight server I
shouldn't install MC anyway. I see there is no mc-light avail in ports
so I might have to port it myself when I really want it. And yeah, I
know some of you think mc is for wimps but I personally like it for
checking out a new system I'm unfamiliar with.
