Can anyone offer clues as to what may be happening? This is from
an old-ish VIA EPIA 5000. The box is not accessible by console or
network after this (no panic, though). It happens fairly often
but not at predictable intervals.

No other corrupted output is seen, just the 'uhai18 hmqt amltpmllep
ppmaeqq' ('host controller process'). The word 'error' is intact,
rather than the eppmp that would be seen if the same corruption
applied as the other words in the same printf.
