dlg and me started working on drivers for the Tehuti Networks tht(4)
and NetXen Inc. nx(4) 10Gb Ethernet devices. This is the second
generation of PCI Express-based 10Gb chipsets and they're starting to
become widely available. NetXen is beeing integrated in some Blade
solutions and Tehuti is about to release 10GbaseT (10Gb over CAT6+)
NICs in addition to the CX4 ones.
More on this will follow...
Here my question: While we have some cards now, we're looking for
donations of some more 10G accessories.
Most important:
- CX4 cables (802.3ak 10GbaseCX4, based on 4X Infiniband) 1+ meter
-> we're running the NICs back to back but we need more cables
(CX4 cables seem to be a bit expensive)
Also interesting and superior grade (I'm dreaming...):
- 10Gb Ethernet switches with Gigabit uplink port(s) (10GbaseCX4, 1000baseT)
- sparc64 systems with PCI Express slots (like the v215, sparc64 is
the most important reference platform for driver development, we use
it to improve portability and also to find hidden bugs als present on
i386/amd64)
- 10GbaseSR fibre cables

donation. Developers need new hardware all the time, to work on
drivers for the hardware itself but also to have an environment to
work on other parts of the OpenBSD system (e.g. fast building machines
etc.).
