A good sugestion would be to look in top and vmstat -i for huge time
used for interrupt or system. My guess is that the box needs a ACPI
enabled kernel (config -ef bsd and type "enable acpi") to get the correct
interrupt routing.
if top shows ~20% system load, even when idle, try disabling iic and ichiic
in UKC. sth we have to do here with an ASUS server.

I did not notice the system load to be very high (it was 3.5% or so when
building, right now it is 0.2% system, 99.8% idle). But I may not have looked
at the right time -- will try this as well.
no, then you don't the same problem as our ASUS baby. Disabling them will not
help.
