I don't think it is such a big deal, perhaps you are overestimating
the emotion behind "go away" emails.  A job in a particular location
is of interest to very few people on misc, certainly not enough people
to warrant posting a retarded HR dufus questionnaire instead of just
a "in case anyone cares, here's a link to an openbsd related job ad".
I think the latter might have gotten fewer negative reactions.
