In my oppinion the tool does NOT WORK like descriped... Why? If you update from 3.8 to 3.9 it MAY work. But if a depency was updated or so it totaly fails...

I use 4.01 because the Version in the Ports HAS issues and an update wich prevents it from crashing wa snot applied to STABLE. Btw: The other problem of that tool is that the Packages at the FTP must be up2date too...
