I was genuinely confused, thanks for pointing out this was a joke.

Unfortunately this is a common comment made in privacy circles of
"don't use that NTP server they track you", when in reality NTP is
unencrypted anyways. So yeah I couldn't quite tell if this was a joke
or not.


In any case, to answer the question to this thread, use XMPP + OMEMO,
its been around for decades, it will be around for decades more, there
is an argument that the crypto is not as secure as the likes of signal,
but IMO decentralisation and longevity comes first, and XMPP is
federated, and its been around for decades.

There is a website which lists clients [1] and also a newer website for
listing the providers (servers you can sign up to) [2], I would
recommend picking an A or B rated provider.

You can also self host, but I would recommend trying this AFTER you use
the protocol for a while as theres a lot of nuances which can be
annoying to iron out to get it working fully.
