Well the installing wasn't the problem, I knew I could use sets and move the firmware to a drive to install offline or use ethernet, I just thought whatever issues I had in the installer with bwfm0 would be there post-install, that's why I tried to get it working in the installer bsd.rd first.

That the default install works fine? That the bsd.rd kernel panics when you try to use bwfm0, at least in the installer for some users but works fine after the install. I don't understand how you could've missed this if you actually read my previous response.
