Known problem, no idea why it happens now. (Historically tar couldn't handle long enough filenames but that should be fixed now as our version now uses pax format by default). Running cvs up -Pd (see https://www.openbsd.org/anoncvs.html) after extracting will fill in the missing files. Personally I've never used those tars, I find cvs is perfectly ok to fetch the trees (especially on -current where you want an up-to-date ports tree anyway). -- Please keep replies on the mailing list.
