I have been trying to figure out what's going on here: you have not really explained why you find yourself needing to edit files during that bootstrap stage of installation. (When I install openbsd from a usb iso image, I have vi available to me before I need to edit any files. Apparently this does not match your experience?) I mean... it sounds like you have found your solution, so maybe this conversation is over. But, if not, maybe I could still learn something here. Thanks, -- Raul
