Following the "Automatic Disk Allocation" in disklabel(8) has saved me from complications when it comes time for each new version of OpenBSD. Prior to each new release, I determine if I am changing my layout by monitoring the following file: https://cvsweb.openbsd.org/src/sbin/disklabel/editor.c
