libvirt, not proxmox. No proxmox anywhere in my case.

Yes, I removed video devices from machine whatsoever, and did 'set tty
com0' in /etc/boot.conf inside the VM

The machines have IIRC automatic partition layout. And even with the
changes above, I do get occasional hangs.
