FWIW, here we scratch the surface too... But I was glad I read the knf manpage and some code reviews on this list. The c.l.c FAQ was also a very good resource.
On a tangent, comp.risks and Bruce Shneier should be required reading for anyone who's programming. It's less expensive to learn through other's mistakes.
So I guess this tells you to expect to do some learning on your own by using these and other's resources. I no longer think I could be competent just by going to school.
