The x201 works great. I used one for about 3 years, and the beatings continued until everything worked perfectly. Mark Kettenis applied the same pressure to the x220. And Mike Larkin to the x230. But the general rule is that the upper-class Thinkpads work the best, first of all because their BIOS are written by Team-A at Lenovo, secondly because we fixed things for ourselves.
