Please try -current. It is close to the state of what 5.7 will be. It would be helpful to know if this problem has been fixed for you between 5.6 and 5.7 releases. Martin Pieuchot has done a lot of work on the USB stack over the past months. FWIW I'm sometimes still seeing ehci_idone spinning with my USB keyboard and mouse attached behind several USB hubs, but otherwise not anymore.
