sometimes a mirror will time out, I have seen this, so I swap between ftp3.usa.openbsd.org and ftp5.usa.openbsd.org; I have had very good response from both of these; alos sometimes, a file is missing, and this throws an error. Then I switch mirrors, kill the pkg_add process and restart pkg_add. otherwise I never have a problem.
