Agree with you on the 'not configured' messages. But I don't think 
they are related to the boot problem. First, the dmesg text was taken 
on one of the few times the system would boot from HD and was running 
X so surely the drivers work. And secondly I don't think those 
drivers are used at boot time. 

I was able to capture the output of the pcidump and acpidump commands. 
If you want, I can post them (in a separate thread) and go from there 
since I have no experience in ACPI.
