You should rather go with an openbrick or a mini-ITX via C3.
Everyone has their own priorities. There are advantages and
disadvantages each way, you can't have everything...
Soekris 45xx/48xx: half the price, draws less current, serial bios,
more onboard ethernet, GPIO.
Openbrick NG: faster cpu, socketed RAM, more serial ports
So if you can live with less throughput, you could have a pair of
Soekris or WRAP boards running CARP for something like the same money
and power draw as an Openbrick. But if you want full 100Mb forwarding
or a lot of crypto, you might need the faster cpu.
Of course there are other options e.g.
some old laptop with usb/pc card ethernet,
mac mini with usb ethernet,
wait for new soekris boards,
other sbc/embedded boards,
...
