Thanks for the reply. I went through the thread but i believe the problem i am facing is not exactly due to no support for unionfs. I recompiled my kernel with no support for procfs and later on compiled procfs as a lkm. after loading the module i had similar issues (system hangs) with procfs, or for that matter kernfs as well. Probably the information in /usr/share/lkm/vfs/ on compiling file system modules isnt completely right. May be someone should try to compile and test /usr/share/lkm/vfs/ and see if this behaviour is reproduced. thanks.
