IANAL I've been reading that section as meaning "If you sell something with with Postfix on it, and what you sell ends up in a lawsuit involving part of the Postfix written by others that you changed, YOU carry the burden of defending the portion written by others as well as your own portion of the defense." Example: Distro sell cds including a modified version of Joe Blow's postfix add-on policy filter that Joe says will block 90% of .scr attachments. Distro's port breaks the policy filter in a way that lets 40% of .scr attachments through undetected. VultureOrg files suit against Joe and Distro, claiming that the Postfix implementation doesn't meet the 90% blockage claim. Clause 4 says Distro must defend Joe as well, since Distro changed his code in the process of building their implementation. -- 42.
