Try Void, it's pretty neat. X binary package system (xbps) is similar to 
pacman. Comes with runit as default init program. Ample desktop environments to 
choose from, or just run it as console only. There's also the option to compile 
software from source, as in Gentoo, with xbps-src. Check the github for more 
details on that.

The community is fairly small, and mostly based in Europe. Plan IRC visits 
accordingly!
