The unmodified amd and nvidia drivers display a extreme ression ( on commit id b28cdc887aefb1e766719e1f74d457f77bdf9a18 ) where 3000+ tests go from pass/fail to crash. This is fixed by the revert in question ( commit id c20596b85f666de470648decbac20b7643a50570 ).
