When a medication order is edited, especially if a different time is
chosen, the edit does not show correctly on Omnicell. The reason for
this is the code in the MEDITECH interface marks the message the same as
a NEW order and does not distinguish it as a CHANGED order. When
Omnicell receives the message, the Omnicell system already has an order
with that Rx number and discards the new message. As a result our sites
with Omnicell must copy and edit the order, which cancels the original
order and creates a new order. This is less than desirable.

We've spoken with both MEDITECH and Omnicell and both want the other to
modify their code.

Omnicell wants MEDITECH to send an indication within the interface
message that the order has been changed. MEDITECH states this is not
easily done.

MEDITECH wants Omnicell to accept the changed order (even though
MEDITECH is sending it as a new order) and replace it with the new
(changed) order that MEDITECH sent them. Omnicell states this is not
easily changed.

We have similar issues with fix cancel and fix DC orders, neither of
which will reappear on the cabinets. Again, the pharmacy must copy the
original order and create a new order to get them to appear on the
cabinet.

I know there are a lot of Omnicell customers out there and I am
wondering if this is an issue for you.
