James, we use ESS as well, although not as efficiently as you. My need is to have more breakdowns that Meditech doesn't provide, especially in B/AR and ADM. If you have those npr reports for breakdown, would you consider posting them?

We have set up a management menu in ESS which provides each manager with an operational electronic view of their departmental revenues, expenses and variances from budget. If you don't have ESS I'd suggest you take a look at it as it is a tool we use extensively. Data from many applications resides in ESS and it is fairly easy to set up a view with data from different applications, and to set up your own analytical and comparative fields. Our managers review their departmental view and variances from budget and if they wish to dig into a variance they have access to the detailed reports they may need on a single menu, in ESS. Quite often they simply want to review a report so we've taught them how to run their reports to PREVIEW. We have set up many other Views in ESS for all levels of the organization and it is well received. We recently we set up a 'DashBoard' view with a considerable amount of information for our senior managemet team. They can look at Admits, Dischgs, ALOS, Avg Census, Outpt Volumes, CMI, MM Inventory Days on Hand, PHA Inventory Days on Hand, Outstanding A/P, Days in A/P, Revenue, A/R Days, % of A/R over 150 Days, HR Turnover Rate, Gross and Net Operating Income, Current Ratio and many other pieces of information in a single view. It has been very well received. They have access to labor distributions - employee view - employee YTD Inquiry from PP, Department Usage from MM, Rev Summary Reports from B/AR, G/L Detail Ledgers and some custom reports. In their user profile we restrict them to their department so they can only see their own data when running any of the reports. We had to provide some classes for the managers to learn how to read their ESS Views and perform breakdowns, and how to run the different reports. It started slow but most have caught on and it is working reasonably well. The objective was to put the tools and information in the hands of the managers or anyone that may need it, electronically. Reduced paper and manhour costs have been realized. Hope this helps. Our GL folks currently print out electronic copies of the Department expense and other forms and then need to collate, copy and/or distribute these things via interoffice... To help save on paper, effort and so-forth... Would anyone be willing to share their process and/or third party application names that they use... Additionally any information about your organization (overall size, number of individuals needing to get information) along with the overall satisfaction and ease of implementation would be appreciated! Thanks in advance!
