Gale, I am not sure if our EMR is the same as what you are asking about. Our physician can review the EMR now from there offices if they are part of our network. If not the results gets Telcomed to them. I hope this helps. We are C/S and our Micro go to EMR already. What we have found in which the physicians like is to be able to see the results without opening the report. In order to handle 90% of this we use the quick enter responses as must as possible. This way the physician sees No Growth at 24 hours, No Gr A Strep isolated, No Salmonella or Shigella Seen, Culture in Process, Screening for Pathogen, etc. and do not have to open the report. When the culture is positive we use the organism and therefore, they know it is positive and will be required to enter into the culture in order to view to complete report. Depending on how you set up your gram stains they will have to look into the report. We have our Positive blood culture gram built as a dummy organism to ensure the physician knows the blood culture is positive. Feel free to contact me is you have any questions.
