Hi, Roger, I think that Meditech envisions using the "Quick Add Alternate NDC#/DIN#" function for this.
menu sequence from std 5.5 Magic PHA main menu: 80. Dictionaries 94. Quick Add Alternate NDC#/DIN# menu sequence from std 5.61 Magic PHA main menu: 80. Dictionaries 90. Additional Dictionary Routines 12. Quick Add Alternate NDC#/DIN# DPM.procedure: PHA.DRUG.ee.add.alt.ndc.by.drug (if you want to attach it to a custom menu) Once you scan an NDC, it will show you any mnemonics already associated with it. Just escape if you see a match or add the appropriate mnemonic if you don't. HTH. Basically, what I am envisioning is a tech will open a screen/report in Meditech and barcode scan each item received. Meditech will scroll through the ndc/alternate ndc number for active drugs in the drug dictionary. If that barcode matches an item, nothing happens. If there is no match for the barcode, then an error message will display. I guess this could be done as a custom NPR report, but I have no idea where to begin. Any ideas, or am I just dreaming?
