We had the same problem as well. Another problem we encountered was the NUR
routine of Process Intervention by Location/List. It doesn't give you the new
screen where you can make the selection. Instead, it brings you directly to the
Process by Loc/List routine but you are forced to exit out. THe menu was a
custom menu and it was not pointing to the right DPM. It should point to
NUR.PC.WORK.document.by.loc.or.user.

Subject: RE: [MEDITECH-L] A Spooky ADM Phenomena RESOLVED!

Hi All!

So after haranguing the Registration staff to call me when this problem occurs
so I can see what they are doing and look at the error messages (if any that
Meditech may be giving them) so I can do screen prints, get user names, patient
account numbers, trace forensic evidence etc. for reporting the problem to
Meditech, I got called by Registration this morning to see up close and
personal what happens when they attempt to discharge an Observation patient
from Meditech.

Yes, they were selecting the correct routine (Observation Patients) and they
were selecting "Discharge" under the Observation Patients routine.  However
Meditech was presenting to the user a Discharge Inpatient data input screen,
not the Discharge Observation Patient data input screen.

Digging deep into the Observation Patient menu assigned to the Registrars, the
Discharge Observation Patient routine was a missing O in the argument.  The
argument was "ENDISIN" (pointing to inpatients) when it should have been
"ENDISINO" (pointing to observation patients).

Thanks to everyone who responded!  For the benefit of those of you who have
also encountered a similar problem, I have included below the responses
received from other L members below.

THANKS Y'ALL,

Maybe there is a lock because a transaction/order is being processed?

Joan:  We didn't have this exact problem when we went to 5.6, but we had a
lot of patient look-up issues.  Meditech installed DTS 4786.  Since that,
we have not had any issues.
Hope this helps!

I would check to see if the user is restricted by location. If they are check
to see if the pc has multiple sessions. If so make sure both are in the
appropriate locations. Thanks Doug

Check in MIS dictionary page 3 to make sure they are not restricted by location

yes i have seen this when we upgraded to 5.5, it would occur on a particular
terminal at various times, if at that time it  is occuring,   have the user
look at their meditech  screen,  there would be no device name associated with
the session only and ip address. for some reason since there was no id then mis
could tell the location and the user couldnt see their patients, signing out
and back in would someitmes fix it.  if i remember right,  the solution was to
upgrade the terminal software to the newest version, and make sure the device
is set up right in ops. i have looked back at the completed task and no reason
was found for this to  occurred  and it went away as it came,  out of the blue,
typical meditech stuff lol. have the user do a screen print to see what i am
talking about.  gary kadar bluefield regional medical center bluefield wv.

Okay ADM gurus, here is the story:

We are a Meditech Magic 5.6 facility.  Every so often (about once a week) when
the Registration staff attempts to discharge an Observation patient (from the
bed in which the patient spent the night) they tell me they go to the Discharge
option under the Observation Patient Routines and either enter the account
number for the patient or search for the patient by name.  Meditech however
does not allow the Registrar to select the patient from the list that appears
(no number in fron of the name.)

So IT gets called.  I then log on to Meditech and discharge the Observation
patient without any problem.  I keep asking them if they are using the
Discharge option under the Observation Patient Routines, and they assure me
they are.  I ask them to call me when this happens (I'll believe it when I see
it).  Today I got the call and before I got over there the manager was suddenly
able to discharge the patient.

Has anyone else out there seen this?  Is there a DTS we missed with the 5.6
upgrade?  (It would not be the first.)

Thank you in advance for your assistance.
