======================================

We have wireless carts in use on the nursing floors and on infrequent
occasions, a patient will request something and we'll make one available to
them. We made an IT decision not to allow patient laptops to be connected to
our network or internet because of all the related issues: viruses, banned
downloads and the like. If a patient wanted his own laptop for non-internet
usage, it'd have to go through Facility Ops (electrical issues, etc).

Personally, I think an option like WebTV would be good for patient relations
and would be more secure: no hard drive, no downloads.

(Chad - sometimes the Security guard has to check it out!) :-))))

Our patients are now asking for internet access while they are recovering in
our hospital.

 Does anyone provide a patient with a laptop or desktop with internet access if
requested ?
Or, if a patient has his/her own computer do you allow them to use them in the
patient room
and do you provide internet access ?

Thank you
