Lately, I've noticed a dearth of "standard" internal modems, that is,
those settable to a standard comm port with jumpers. Most of the
stores and wholesalers around here seem to carry mostly USRobotics,
and they're rapidly going to plug-n-play, with no jumpers, and
limited ability to set them to ports where Linux will recognize them.
Am I just paranoid, or are you all seeing the same? I haven't yet
done any playing with plug and play under Linux; will this be a good
solution? Right now, I'm spending more for external modems -- what a
pain! I'd like to hear your opinions.
Next, does anybody out there have an inside track on what's new in
Linux 2.2? And, when can we expect it?
Thanks
