Hi Guys
I read and followed all the instruction in the IPMASQHowto
i have 2 pcs a pII and a 486. Linux and the modem is onto the pII
486 runs win95
i recompiled the kernel with the following options:
* network firewalls (CONFIG_FIREWALL)
* IP firewalling (CONFIG_IP_FIREWALL)
* IP Masquerading (CONFIG_IP_MASQUERADING)
* IP ICMP masquerading (CONFIG_IP_MASQUERADING_ICMP)
the Howto says to set also
* IP always defragment (CONFIG_IP_ALWAYS_DEFRAG)
but I did not find it anywhere in the kernel (i used xconfig)
ok the pII has ip eth0=192.168.0.1 (subnet 255.255.255.0)
486 has ip= 192.168.0.2 (subnet 255.255.255.0)
i configured the network on the 486 as howto says:
ip as before mentioned,
gateway 192.168.0.1 (the pII)
DNS
checek enable dns
HOst= pandora domain=caen.it (this is my ISP)
ip : 195.223.103.2 (primary)
195.250.1.2 (secondary)
i did not do anything else
i created a simple script called rc.firewall as suggested byt the HOwto
heres
#!/bin/sh
/sbin/depmod -a
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_ftp
/sbin/modprobe ip_masq_irc
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_forward
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_dynaddr
echo "1" > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/tcp_syncookies
/sbin/ipchains -M -S 7200 10 160
/sbin/ipchains -P forward DENY
/sbin/ipchains -A forward -s 192.168.0.0/24 -j MASQ
make it executables
run it and now all shold work
ok pinging from 486 to pII all right
pinging from pII to 486 all right
home network works
pinging from pII an internet ip ok it works
pinging from 486 p_t_p ip (195.223.103.1) does not work
pinging another internet ip does not work
it seems tha MASQ is not working
what else should i do
or what other info u need?
