That's a good idea. Get SQUID from http://squid.nlanr.net and check the
documentation on how to install and compile it. If you find yourself lazy
enough to set the proxy address in each user's browser, use Port forwarding
where port 80 would be forwarded to your proxy server's port (8080 or 3128
the default SQUID port). This is what they call transparent proxying because
the users would be using the proxy server without any browser's
modifications.
The default /usr/local/squid/log/access.log file would give you an idea of
who is going where.
