It was less intended to be cute, Charlie, than to make a point regarding the great discrepancy in military power reflected in the US military presence six miles off the Chinese coast. No one can predict what the next decade will bring, although we can say with some confidence that China won’t be positioning its forces along the US Western seaboard. What we do know for certain is that China is still unable to project its power globally as can the US. Its naval operations are limited to its maritime perimeter and it it's doubtful the PLA will militarily challenge the US even in its own backyard - the Philippines, Vietnam, and Indonesia, or even Taiwan. If war should come to the South China Sea, it will result as it almost always does from unintended consequences.
