As frustrating as that must have been, at least it’s an answer. It’s the ones you don’t ever get answers to that are the most frustrating (and as sysadmins, I think we all have lists of those). If you haven’t read it, The Cuckoo’s Egg by cliff stoll is a great book about an astronomer who was told in the 70’s/80’sish to find a 50 cent accounting error in billing for a unix system…and found a lot more.
