I am sure projects like iRedMail or Mail-in-a-Box can be useful for
some. However, based on the venture we are discussing this in (i.e. the
mailop maling list), I would hope that we can assume a degree of
technical expertise and the motivation to expand existing knowledge.

If things go wrong, I expect "naïve users" are going to have a bad time
anyway, unless they bring in outside help. I have nothing against folks
experimenting, with or without prepackaged software stacks, but I don't
recommend experiments when email is business critical. If a mail server
turnkey solution creates a false sense of operating a mail service
stack, I don't consider it a good idea.
